Remember When: MoveOn.org’s Faulty Memories

Media Matters Romney Smear

Picture posted at moveon.org

No Obama didn’t do those things, yuk yuk yuk… But here’s what I do remember Obama doing.

I remember when President Obama presided over a downgrade to the credit-rating of the United States twice, violated the War Powers Act, was held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, required all Americans to purchase a product from a third-party, and abrogated bankruptcy law to turn over control of companies to his union supporters.

I remember when he by-passed Congress and implemented the Dream Act through executive fiat, sealed records from the largest US trial on terrorist funding organizations, known as the Holy Land Foundation Trial, to prevent a foreign policy disaster for his administration, actively tried to bankrupt an American industry (coal), and fired an inspector general of Ameri-Corps for catching one of his friends in a corruption case.

I remember when President Obama filed lawsuits against the states he swore an oath to protect (AZ, WI, OH, IN) when they tried to protect themselves, and told the military men and women that they should pay for their own private insurance because they “volunteered to go to war and knew the consequences”, and I remember when his Auto Bailout forced hundreds of independent car dealerships around the nation to close, costing this country about a hundred thousand jobs.

Those are the things I remember about this President that actually have an impact on the people of this country.

Romney’s dog, his tax returns, and his foreign accounts, have NO personal effect on me or any other American whatsoever.  ZERO. NADA.

Mitt RomneyMitt Romney, at an 11:00 am rally with supporters in San Diego, California, opened his remarks with “Good morning my fellow Americans!” at which point the newswires lit up with expressions of disbelief.

Rachel Maddow: “Forget opening an airplane window, Mitt Romney doesn’t even know the difference between morning and afternoon. Doesn’t he know it’s 1 PM IN THE AFTERNOON in New York?”

Lawrence O’Donnell: “Romney is just trying to confuse the public and deflect from his failed potential future economic policies.”

Chris Matthews:”Can Mitt Romney even comprehend the magnitude of racial prejudice in telling someone to have a “Good Morning”? Millions of Americans DO NOT have good mornings every day! Besides, it’s afternoon here in New York. This guy is SO out of touch!”

What lunacy can I make up tomorrow that can rival and possibly mirror the actual News Cycle we’re seeing in the mainstream media?

Feel free to share your own made-up gaffes in the comments section.

Obama’s First Term in His Own Words

with 2 comments

President Obama is an intelligent man.  There are intelligent members of the Democrat party both in leadership and rank and file.  Contrary to what some on the right may say, the left is not stupid.

Having said that, this video, cataloging  the president’s own words at different times and with different audiences, leaves me to believe the Democrat leadership and this president have intentionally misled this country through;

  • misinformation
  • misappropriation
  • mischaracterization
  • miscommunication
  • misfeasance
  • misjudgment
  • mismanagement
  • misrepresentation
  • misspending
  • mistreatment
  • and misguidance

They can’t possibly be so stupid or shortsighted to not realize at some point the double-talk would be exposed.  You won’t see this comparison of the president’s speeches over the past 4 years on any major news network or in any major news publication.  It’s for this very reason that big government on both sides of the political aisle want to regulate the internet.  If not for the internet, few if any Americans would have the opportunity to evaluate these varying and contradictory statements spoken by candidate Obama and now President Obama.

This is more than just broken campaign promises.  This is a revealing expose’ on what the president says when in the company of the public and when he’s in the company of his ardent followers.  It proves, to me at least, the he will indeed say and do whatever is necessary to garner admiration, support, and votes.  His allies in the media have not held him accountable for the many contradicting messages over the past 4 years.

After watching this president for 4 years and hearing this compilation of his words, I have to conclude, voting for Barack Obama and giving him another 4 years in the White House would be a huge:

Mistake.

An $8 Billion Coincidence?

What you’re not hearing about Medicare in all the Medicare banter these days is an interesting little coincidence President Obama hopes Seniors never hear about before November 6th.  You can all but guarantee you won’t read about it in the major news publications or see it on TV.

Here is a simple slide presentation explaining this slick move and, in my opinion, calculated act of deception by the administration.  Click the link to view.

Tax the Rich and Solve What?

with 8 comments

Tax the Rich! The cry is getting louder and louder with the President holding the Bull Horn.

OK.  What if we did raise taxes on the rich and made them pay their “fair share” (with no definition of fair coming from the left).  Would that finally solve the budget woes the country is in?

Let’s look at the math.

In 2008 (latest data available) there were 1,400,000 returns filed by people in the top tax bracket $392,149.  Their total income was 1.7 trillion dollars.  They paid 400 billion in taxes at 23% leaving them with 1.3 trillion after taxes.  The deficit is 1.5 trillion.

Since the deficit is 1.5 trillion and they only have 1.3 trillion left they would need to be taxed at an additional 115%.  Since they are already taxed at 23% their total tax bill would need to be 138% of what they made.

Of course those numbers are for federal income taxes only.  These taxpayers also paid sales tax, property tax, state income tax, and of course all of those fun little hidden taxes we love and adore.

So, now that we’ve taxed all wealthy Americans into poverty, with no solution to the budget or deficit problem, what do we do next?

That question is directed at you, the Left, since your bright idea to tax the rich doesn’t work out so well.

Let the spin cycle begin…

Source(s):
The Tax Foundation

Walter Williams, an economist, author, and syndicated columnist, truly clarifies the absurdity of going after the rich to solve all of our financial woes in this country.

Politicians, news media people and leftists in general entertain what economists call a zero elasticity view of the world. That’s just fancy economic jargon for a view that government can impose a tax and people will behave after the tax just as they behaved before the tax, and the only change is more government revenue. One example of that vision, at the state and local levels of government, is the disappointing results of confiscatory tobacco taxes. Confiscatory tobacco taxes have often led to less state and local revenue because those taxes encouraged smuggling.

Similarly, when government taxes profits, corporations report fewer profits and greater costs. When individuals face higher income taxes, they report less income, buy tax shelters and hide their money. It’s not just rich people who try to avoid taxes, but all of us – liberals, conservatives and libertarians.

What’s the evidence? Federal tax collections have been between 15 and 20 percent of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product every year since 1960. However, between 1960 and today, the top marginal tax rate has varied between 91 percent and 35 percent. That means whether taxes are high or low, people make adjustments in their economic behavior so as to keep the government tax take at 15 to 20 percent of the GDP. Differences in tax rates have a far greater impact on economic growth than federal revenues.

So far as Congress’ ability to prey on the rich, we must keep in mind that rich people didn’t become rich by being stupid.

Tax The RICH! Sounds Good, Solves Little

I ask for common sense.  I ask you to look at the math.  I ask you to dig down deep.  I ask you to be honest.

Is increasing taxes on millionaires in this country more about helping pay off the debt OR making jealous people feel better?

Watch and consider.

Paul Harvey Understood

with 2 comments

Paul Harvey is a broadcasting icon.

His ability to speak to any subject with eloquence and substance was unique and, in my opinion, unequaled in today’s media.

Recently, a Paul Harvey broadcast from 1965 has surfaced with prophetic insight into not only the turbulent times during the 60’s but to what we would be seeing today in politics, society, and the world view in general.

You can’t escape his words nor rationalize them away as just “opinion”.  He speaks as one who understands true principles and the consequence of dismissing them.

Written transcript: Paul Harvey, If I Were the Devil.  1965

Paul HarveyIf I were the Devil . . . I mean, if I were the Prince of Darkness, I would of course, want to engulf the whole earth in darkness. I would have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree, so I should set about however necessary to take over the United States. I would begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: “Do as you please.” “Do as you please.”

To the young, I would whisper, “The Bible is a myth.” I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what is bad is good, and what is good is “square”. In the ears of the young marrieds, I would whisper that work is debasing, that cocktail parties are good for you. I would caution them not to be extreme in religion, in patriotism, in moral conduct. And the old, I would teach to pray. I would teach them to say after me: “Our Father, which art in Washington” . . .

If I were the devil, I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull an uninteresting. I’d threaten T.V. with dirtier movies and vice versa. And then, if I were the devil, I’d get organized. I’d infiltrate unions and urge more loafing and less work, because idle hands usually work for me. I’d peddle narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. And I’d tranquilize the rest with pills. If I were the devil, I would encourage schools to refine yound intellects but neglect to discipline emotions . . . let those run wild.

I would designate an athiest to front for me before the highest courts in the land and I would get preachers to say “she’s right.” With flattery and promises of power, I could get the courts to rule what I construe as against God and in favor of pornography, and thus, I would evict God from the courthouse, and then from the school house, and then from the houses of Congress and then, in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion, and I would deify science because that way men would become smart enough to create super weapons but not wise enough to control them.

If I were Satan, I’d make the symbol of Easter an egg, and the symbol of Christmas, a bottle. If I were the devil, I would take from those who have and I would give to those who wanted, until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. And then, my police state would force everybody back to work. Then, I could separate families, putting children in uniform, women in coal mines, and objectors in slave camps. In other words, if I were Satan, I’d just keep on doing what he’s doing.

Paul Harvey, Good Day.
