Roll Back Thursday – The Filibuster

leave a comment »

Today, Thursday, November 21, 2013 the United States Senate voted to change a centuries old parliamentary procedure in the Senate chamber and invoked the so-called “nuclear option” making it possible to confirm presidential nominees by a simple majority vote rather than the 60 votes necessary to override any filibuster attempt by the minority party.

Senate Majority Leader Harry ReidSenate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Democrats claim Republicans have become career obstructionists holding up judicial and executive nominees from an up or down vote for too long.  So with that in mind Harry Reid said, “It’s time to change the Senate, before this institution becomes obsolete.”  (Now remember this quote when you watch the videos below)

Of course there is fantastic irony at play here that simply can’t be ignored, nor should it be.

A little background.

In the 2005 Senate, Republicans held 55 seats and the Democrats held 45 including Jim Jeffords, an independent from Vermont who caucused with the Democrats. Confirmation requires a plurality of votes, and the Republicans could easily confirm their nominees if brought to the floor. Earlier in 2005, Democrats had blocked the nomination of 10 of George W. Bush’s nominees, saying they were too conservative and that Republicans had blocked many of their nominees back in the 1990s. The old tit for tat response.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist then threatened to enact the nuclear option.

This is how then Senator Barack Obama, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, and Senator Hillary Clinton reacted to that threat, and their staunch defense of the rules of the Senate and the filibuster.

So what changed folks?

What happened to “as long as I’m the leader, the answer is no!” eh Senator Reid?

Tsk tsk tsk…the lengths we will go to get what we want. Even if it means a complete reversal of ourselves at any moment in time.  Look up the word integrity. You won’t find this behavior exemplified anywhere in its definition. This rebuke isn’t reserved exclusively for Democrats either. Republicans are just as stained when it comes to this kind of gerrymandering to get their way.

Shame on this governing body.  Shame.

Dear Republican/Democrat “Base,” Why Do You Let Your Party Take You For Fools?

leave a comment »

This post comes via a challenge.

Reg Saddler @Politics_PR on twitter tweeted a link to a blog post by Milt Shook on The PCTC* Blog titled, “Dear Republican Base, Why Do You Let Your Party Take You For Fools.”

As I read this “interesting” post it became very clear that it was written from pure ideology as opposed to reasoned, logical, or factual thought. OK there were some facts scattered here and there but without any citation or way to confirm them. Accusations were made with no evidence.  Stereotypes were strewn about like dirty socks on the bedroom floor of triplets.

That’s when it dawned on me how easy it would be to simply switch the word Republican for Democrat, red state for blue state, conservative pundits with liberal ones, and turn the post into a completely different slant without actually rewriting it.  It was easy because it was lazy for the most part. 99.9% opinion.

I tried to stick to the original text as much as possible only exchanging words and names.  In some cases I had to change the viewpoint of some paragraphs from anti-right to anti-left.  Basically providing the counter argument to the original premise.  I admit I had a ton of fun doing it.

So what does this really prove or show?  That far too often we believe our own crap doesn’t stink but the other guy’s does.  That we can become too zealous for our own good to the point that we are blind to the inefficiencies, inaccuracies, and inconsistencies of our own team.  That in actuality we are far closer in our core views and values than we like to admit.  Right, left, or center.

It’s silly.  But then so was this challenge.  I’m hopeful @kakkers123 @Politics_PR get a kick out of it.  They’re probably the only ones who will read it or understand what it even means.

The original post can be found here The PCTC* Blog I suggest reading it first for context.

The Switcheroo Version:

Dear Democrat “Base,” Why Do You Let Your Party Take You For Fools?

I really don’t understand why the people in blue states continue to vote Democrat, and do so habitually. Why do none of them take the time to realize that the Democratic leadership is playing them for fools. Therefore, I am directing this to the Democrats who make up their party’s “base.”

Do you know why the Democrat Party says the things they do to? It’s because you fall for it, that’s why. They’re trying to fleece you, and you let them! Actually, not only do you let them, you practically insist that they continue.

Look at the loudest voices on the Democratic side. Do you really think people like Lawrence O’Donnell, Ed Schultz, Michael Moore and the like actually believe the crap they spout? They sure don’t live the way they demand you live. O’Donnell is an avowed socialist, who oddly has never chosen to actually move to a socialist country. Apparently he likes the way capitalism works and the money he makes preaching the life he chooses not to live. Then there’s this left-wing Democrat Socialist caused controversy over his intro for an interview with Michael Steele which was considered racially insensitive. He said, “Michael Steele is dancing as fast as he can, trying to charm independent voters and Tea Partiers while never losing sight of his real master and paycheck provider, the Republican National Committee.” He apologizes more often for his inaccurate remarks on TV than the president does for the country on his international tours.

The highest profile Democrat mouthpieces, like Rachel Maddow, Bill Maher, Piers Morgan, and countless others have others write books full of lies, slander and bigotry for them (you don’t really think they write them, do you?), because they know the Democrat “base” will buy them, and left-wing websites will give them away as premiums to those of you who pay them every month for the privilege of reading their lies.

Progressive Press has built a website selling books that no one actually reads, because no one knows they exist. If you think I’m kidding, go to progressivepress.com and see for yourself. If you thought the right were conspiracy theorists just wait till you get a load of these titles!

These people, who are heavily sponsored by the Democrat Party and their sponsors, tell you guys what you want to hear, and you fall for it. If you look closely, they never actually do anything; they know you’ll support them with lots of money, because you seem to have no idea you’re being fleeced. This is the Mainstream Media business model; tell you left wingers what you want to hear, regardless of the facts, and collect money for doing so. They repeat Democratic talking points because that’s what makes them money. I will guarantee you that, if conservatives were as gullible, there would be a conservative network like you Libs have with the Mainstream Media.

You folks in the Democratic “base” are the veritable wet dream of environmental extremists, unions, and socialists of the country, because you’re gullible. You have little to no money, and you will buy anything “certain people” want to sell you. The current leadership of the Democrat Party are nothing more than snake oil salesmen, and they count on the “base” to be dumb enough to buy anything they sell, no matter how ludicrous and fraudulent what they’re selling is.

If you’re part of the Democrat “base,” what the hell is wrong with you? Red states are better places to live; they feature more jobs, better pay, better education, less crime and an overall better standard of living. I’ve proven it with the numbers in another blog post. The only reason your states get away with higher taxes is because, well, you’re gullible and think you’re getting something for your money.

Think about it. Most people who habitually vote Democrat have almost no money, and yet, you cheer when the Democrats screw you by playing favorites with Wall Street, exchanging favors for campaign dollars, and turning a blind eye when they ship jobs overseas or replace you with automation and technology. Why do that to yourself? Because Bill Clinton was hot? Because Barack Obama is mesmerizing? Perhaps you haven’t noticed, but most of the Democrat “base” has seen almost nothing from all those tax increases and stimulus packages. According to a CBO report the stimulus actually hurt the economy over the long-term.

I guess the question is, Democrats, how stupid are you? You know your states are economic toilets, where the unions and corporation cronies get treated like kings, while the average person is treated like a serf. You are being played, Democrat “base,” and the way you get played just keeps getting more absurd.

For example, let’s look at the Affordable Care Act for a moment, shall we? You know it as Obamacare.

If you are one of those who think it’s a good law and will help everyone, you’re a stone fool, and you’re being played by the Democrat Party leadership. Need proof Obamacare is a bad idea? President Obama has already signed 14 laws that amend, rescind, or otherwise change parts of his own health care law, and he’s taken five independent steps to “delay” Obamacare on his own. Odd behavior for someone who said this law was the best thing since raspberry white chocolate cheesecake.

Obamacare has turned out to be perhaps the biggest job killer in US history. Companies (who weren’t special enough to get exemptions from the law) are laying off workers or cutting hours below the new 30 hour work week to avoid ACA requirements, while others are just trying to lighten the books enough to allow them to pay for Obamacare and not go under. Telling employees, too bad, sorry, we wish we could keep you, but…

See, what your Democrat handlers are doing is fleecing you. They’re taking campaign funds from you by making promises that they can’t possibly keep. Social security, medicare, and other entitlement programs are headed for bankruptcy. More Americans rely on government handouts than ever before. You know, you guys are always at the head of the line. All of this is bad for the economy which has gotten worse every year of Obama’s presidency, but you keep thinking he’s the best leader since Jimmy carter.

Therefore, how pissed off will you be when the SS checks stop coming or you’re no longer considered for that medical procedure because your old and you’ll die soon anyway. Even your trusted Democratic leaders now admit to death panels. Oh they don’t call em that but that’s what they are.

Stop believing everything the Democrat BS machine puts out there for you to buy. Learn to think for yourselves, Democrats. They’re lying to you, to make lots of money from you. At some point, you have to open your eyes and look around and realize this.

Voter Fraud? What’s the GOP going to do about it?

leave a comment »

Voter Fraud in 2012 GOP can't fight it.The answer to the question in the title is quite simply, nothing.

But the reason the GOP will sit quietly as reports come out of battleground states of voter fraud is not for lack of desire to right a wrong, but because they are legally prevented from doing so.

You read correctly. The GOP cannot legally file suit or petition the courts to look into voter fraud in any of the 50 states.

In 1981, during the gubernatorial election in New Jersey (NJ), a lawsuit was brought against the RNC, the NJ Republican State Committee (RSC), and three individuals (John A. Kelly, Ronald Kaufman, and Alex Hurtado), accusing them of violating the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA), 42 U.S.C. §§ 1971, 1973, and the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States.

To settle the lawsuit, in 1982, the RNC and RSC entered into an agreement or Consent Decree, which is national in scope, limiting the RNC’s ability to engage or assist in voter fraud prevention unless the RNC obtains the court’s approval in advance.

The RNC has tried to get court approval to help prevent voter fraud but has been denied by the courts.

The RNC also agreed that the RNC, its agents, servants, and employees would be bound by the Decree, “whether acting directly or indirectly through other party committees.”

The Consent Decree was modified in 1987 and redefined “ballot security activities” to mean “ballot integrity, ballot security or other efforts to prevent or remedy vote fraud.”

Here’s a fun twist. Since 1982, this Consent Decree has been renewed every year by the original judge, Carter appointee District Judge Dickinson R. Debevoise, now 88 years old.

Debevoise has been retired for years but comes back for the sole purpose of renewing his 1982 order for another year.

In 2010, the RNC unsuccessfully appealed “to vacate or modify” the Consent Decree in “Democratic National Committee v Republican National Committee,” Case No. 09-4615 (C.A. 3, Mar. 8, 2012).

The judge who denied the RNC’s appeal to “vacate” the 1982 Consent Decree is an Obama appointee, Judge Joseph Greenaway, Jr., of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. What? You were expecting a Reagan appointee?

The RNC and DNC made their Consent Decree 30 years ago, in 1982. The agreement in effect gives a carte blanche to the Democrat Party to commit vote fraud in every voting district across America that has, in the language of the Consent Decree, “a substantial proportion of racial or ethnic populations.” The term “substantial proportion” is not defined.

The Republican Party is either full of incompetents or part of a big plan where they are the Tom to the Democrats Jerry.

This is just another layer to be peeled back from the mess our election process has become, with each layer revealing an even bigger, deeper, and more disturbing problem.

Thanks to the following blogs for their thorough reporting of this story.

Also check out this article at TheBlaze.  A good read about why, regardless of the number of cases of alleged voter fraud come forward, the election will stay the same.

Socialism Explained for 8 year-olds

President Obama loves to talk about fairness but fails to include everyone in that conversation.  How can there be fairness when one segment of the population is used to provide “fairness” to another.

Even if you’re older than 8 watch the video and marvel at the common sense of it.

Chameleon Politics – President Obama’s Change

with 7 comments

Gas prices are looking more and more like they’ll hit that $5 per gallon mark this year, probably somewhere near the peak summer travel months.

The president is now talking like a conservative when it comes to oil and gas prices. Taking an opportunity on Super Tuesday to steal some of the limelight away from the Republicans, President Obama pitched his energy strategy which is laden with green energy alternatives he plans to pay for by ending tax incentives for big oil.

While the president is saying one thing about oil and gasoline prices now, he has said something very different before.

In January 2008, candidate Obama told the San Francisco Chronicle that under his cap-and-trade plan, “electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” Steven Chu, now Secretary of Energy, told the same newspaper in 2008: “Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” That would put gas at about $10 a gallon.

This president has done nothing to pave the way for lower fuel prices since becoming president. In fact, he has done the very opposite since taking office.

In March of 2010, Mr. Obama reversed or scaled back nearly every major offshore oil opportunity that has come about since the price spike of 2008—effectively reimposing a moratorium on drilling off the coasts. His administration has killed leases in developmentally crucial areas of Alaska. His EPA has refused to issue permits. The White House used the BP oil spill as an excuse to also shut down the deep-water Gulf.

Onshore? Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has revoked oil-and-gas leases. The EPA is suffocating the coal industry with regulation. One of the president’s only clear State of the Union proposals was to raise taxes on oil and gas. The White House’s energy policy, says Dan Kish of the Institute for Energy Research, is “embargoing our own energy supplies to drive up their costs.”

During the Gulf oil spill the administration and Democrats didn’t worry about a back-lash for their blatantly “anti-oil” stance, but now that the Gulf has recovered and prices are approaching $5 a gallon their tune has changed. What do we hear coming out of the president’s teleprompter now?  Fox News correspondent Ed Henry asked the president about gas prices and the notion that Obama wants to see prices go even higher at which the president scoffed, “From a political perspective, do you think the president of the United States going into re-election wants gas prices to go up higher? Is there anybody here who thinks that makes a lot of sense?”  No, it makes no sense at all, which is why the president is now changing his tune.

It’s quite clear, going into an election year, President Obama is going to conveniently forget his past statements and actions when it comes to fossil fuels and he’ll hope you forget too. This president changes like a chameleon, liberal until it isn’t convenient or favorable and then adopting a more conservative tone to better serve his purposes.

Nobody should forget how angry the public was over $4 gas in 2008. That anger was enough to propel John McCain in the polls, where he stayed until the financial crisis. Another thing to remember; oil prices peaked in July 2008 and the unemployment rate was 5.7%. What might happen with $5 gas and 9% unemployment?

President Obama’s anti-oil record is clear through his words and actions and those of his appointees, and Republicans should use their bully pulpit in the House to directly connect prices to the Obama energy freeze. He’ll try to deflect, ignore, or minimize his record. He must be forced to face his record and explain it.

If the Republican candidates are smart they’ll continue to use this president’s past words and actions to refute and contradict what he is saying now in this election year.

The Chain Around America’s Neck

with 2 comments

On January 20, 2009, the total outstanding National Debt stood at $10,626,877,048,913.08.

On August 19, 2011, the number was $14,639,239,567,874.38

That’s an increase of $4,012,362,518,961.3 over the 942 days of the Obama Presidency that had elapsed between those two days, or an increase of $4,259,408,194.23 per day

If that trend continues the national debt will be $16,854,131,828,872.13 at the end of President Obama’s current term, and $25,292,019,461,634.69 on Inauguration Day 2017.

President Obama and the Congressional Representatives that support him and his policies that have increased the National Debt to these levels owe the American people an explanation and reasonable justification for putting this incredible burden of debt on the backs of future generations.

Two Problems.

1. They can’t explain or justify it.

2. They don’t really care to.

Frankly, they don’t believe you can do anything about it.

The Tea Party is to Blame!

leave a comment »

That’s the new mantra of the left.  Blame a fledgling political entity that is barely 3 years old for all the ills of this country.

Political activist and conservative Kevin Jackson hits the nail on the head, strikes the bullseye, rings the bell, and any other cliched analogy you can think of!

Of course the Andre Carsons, Maxine Waters, and Jesse Jacksons of the world will simply call Kevin Jackson an Uncle Tom which immediately devalues and discredits any black human being that disagrees with their views.  The problem for these elites is the black community isn’t as dumb and stupid as they think they are.  They are beginning to see through the facade these black leaders have built over the past 50 years.  They are beginning to ask questions and the answers they get from the liberal left are not resonating any longer.

Welcome to the truth and thank you to people like Kevin Jackson who are not afraid to speak it!
