Remember When: MoveOn.org’s Faulty Memories

Media Matters Romney Smear

No Obama didn’t do those things, yuk yuk yuk… But here’s what I do remember Obama doing.

I remember when President Obama presided over a downgrade to the credit-rating of the United States twice, violated the War Powers Act, was held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, required all Americans to purchase a product from a third-party, and abrogated bankruptcy law to turn over control of companies to his union supporters.

I remember when he by-passed Congress and implemented the Dream Act through executive fiat, sealed records from the largest US trial on terrorist funding organizations, known as the Holy Land Foundation Trial, to prevent a foreign policy disaster for his administration, actively tried to bankrupt an American industry (coal), and fired an inspector general of Ameri-Corps for catching one of his friends in a corruption case.

I remember when President Obama filed lawsuits against the states he swore an oath to protect (AZ, WI, OH, IN) when they tried to protect themselves, and told the military men and women that they should pay for their own private insurance because they “volunteered to go to war and knew the consequences”, and I remember when his Auto Bailout forced hundreds of independent car dealerships around the nation to close, costing this country about a hundred thousand jobs.

Those are the things I remember about this President that actually have an impact on the people of this country.

Romney’s dog, his tax returns, and his foreign accounts, have NO personal effect on me or any other American whatsoever.  ZERO. NADA.

  1. Oh… so it was Obama who openly and gleefully used the debt ceiling as a political football which directly caused the credit rating to be downgraded by one of the banks that tried to plunder our economy in the first place? Wow. It’s not that you remember… you just remember extreeeemely precise details and forget everything else wholesale. I’m always amazed that a conservative can take that debt ceiling fight, and with a straight face, blame it on Obama… when it was a 100% deliberate and calculated right wing play. Say Mitt’s dog doesn’t mean anything to you? I get that. Say his tax returns don’t effect you? I’d say it tells you which side his bread is buttered on. But to blame those things on Obama when they were a part of the openly stated goal to derail the country so Obama doesn’t get another presidency… listen… if you’re wondering why a president with this economy could get re-elected, it’s because moderates and liberals, unlike conservatives, remember these things. What’s your number one goal for your term? “To make Barack Obama a one-term president.” There is not even a reasonable interpretation for that statement besides sabotage. I’d love to see an explanation besides sabotage for that… because it’s one thing to point out Obama’s failures, it’s quite another to be the people telling us you can make him fail.

    • Kris mr. Obama has not done anything to improve the lot he was given. He had two years with a bullet proof congress and DID NOT IMPROVE a thing. He has derailed himself with broken promises and an inability to work with those who think differently. Remember this quote about Republicans: “they can come along but they’ll have to ride in the back”?
