Socialism Explained for 8 year-olds
President Obama loves to talk about fairness but fails to include everyone in that conversation. How can there be fairness when one segment of the population is used to provide “fairness” to another.
Even if you’re older than 8 watch the video and marvel at the common sense of it.
The Long Version 
Okay, this video already lost me when Obama spoke of Socialism like a good thing, and Reagan claimed liberals saw capitalism as a bad thing. I’m a very pro-capitalism liberal, but I think you guys have a vastly different idea of capitalism. In my mind, capitalism is great because it provides opportunity, the key tenet of freedom. It seems conservatives see capitalism as the same thing as freedom, which means it is the end all be all of America. The way I see it, your brand of capitalism relates to my brand of capitalism as anarchy relates to freedom. By the way, I do agree with the idea that Reagan, by today’s conservative standards, would be FAR closer to Obama than to any conservative in office right now. Let’s remember that Reagan’s taxation system was very progressive. When he reduced taxes on the rich, back then, the rich were being taxed at about 75%. So of course, reducing their taxes would increase revenue. Now, it’s pretty clear that we’re past the point of diminishing returns on tax cuts for the wealthy. It’s as if the guy who decided to put a turbo on his car, to jincrease airflow to improve horsepower, one day decided that if he got rid of gas and ran his car on air only, it would be the fastest car on the road.

That’s the point Kris. Obama doesn’t see socialism as a bad thing, nor do any of the people he has surrounded himself with. I can honestly look at the core values behind those who believe in socialism and say they are not bad or evil The problem is there isn’t a human being alive that has the integrity and selfless character to oversee such a system. It always starts out as a fairness argument and ends more oppressive and unfair than anything before it. The reason? The people running the show who can’t help themselves from abusing the power and control such a system provides to those implementing and governing it.
I don’t see the kind of altruistic character in Obama or those he associates with that would be required for social democracy to actually benefit all. Even then I think such a system holds down personal initiative and drive to innovate and create.
The cartoon is a tad over the top but it includes a lot of “conservatives” in it’s finger pointing.

The truth is that America and Americans are controlled by corporations. You have no genuine political dialogue because you use the term socialist as a smear. Unfortunately for you if you don’t have full access to all political ideas you do not have true democracy. You have been sold a diet of right wing properganda and so are incapable of making an informed choice. Believe me Obama is not a socialist, not even near but you label him as one as an insult and scare tactic. You democracy died years ago but you don’t see it, talk about 1984, you live it every day….

I’m very aware of the loss of freedom and liberty in my country. However, it is not and never has been a democracy. We are a constitutional representative republic with a democratic vote of the people. But we are not a majority rule government which is what a pure democracy truly is.
Socialism doesn’t work.
Socialism is the Big Lie of the twentieth century. While it promised prosperity, equality, and security, it delivered poverty, misery, and tyranny. Equality was achieved only in the sense that everyone was equal in his or her misery. Collectivism is unsustainable in the long run because it is a flawed theory. Socialism does not work because it is not consistent with fundamental principles of human behavior. The failure of socialism in countries around the world can be traced to one critical defect: it is a system that ignores incentives.
Under socialism, incentives either play a minimal role or are ignored totally. A centrally planned economy without market prices or profits, where property is owned by the state, is a system without an effective incentive mechanism to direct economic activity. By failing to emphasize incentives, socialism is a theory inconsistent with human nature and is therefore doomed to fail. Socialism is based on the theory that incentives don’t matter and we know from 235 years of practicing the great experiment known as America that incentives do matter.
