Wall Street Protester Caught Fibbing…Just a Tad.

leave a comment »

You may have heard about the protests on Wall Street in New York over the weekend. Then again, maybe you didn’t. Turns out they weren’t that big of a deal, until that is, this guy popped up on video. Robert Stephens’ (with a PH) story sounds terrible, even heart breaking. At first glance and on face value, it makes you feel sympathy for the cause he is advocating and his reasons to protest the “Big Banks”.

But Mr. Stephens wasn’t using the intelligence that helped him graduate from Carlton College and got him into the George Washington University law school while shouting out his serious allegations.  He didn’t stop to think whether anyone listening would check into his heart-rending claims and reasons for doing what he did.

Oh dear…

Someone was listening and someone did some fact checking.  Merideth Jessup of The Blaze.com looked into the public records and found this:

“Phone inquiries into the county property records & taxpayer services office reveal that the Stephens family home is not and never has been in foreclosure, that property taxes had been paid in full this year and the remaining balance on their mortgage for the half-million dollar home [$500,000] is less than one year’s worth of tuition+fees at their son’s law school.”  Jessup then called Stephens’ mother, Marquita, where she admitted Chase Bank indeed was not “taking” their home from them. Instead, due to a recent “reduction in income,” they’ve decided to hold a “short sale.”

Mr. Stephens has since responded to the reports with a blog post where he tried to justify his antics and his dishonesty, calling the report, “a smear campaign by the right wing.”

Sorry Mr. Stephens, but you smeared yourself and your cause when you decided to resort to untruths, to manipulate the media, and public opinion.  You are wrong.  It’s too bad you can’t admit it, apologize for it, and learn from it.  Then, you’d really be putting those brains to work in a productive manner.

The Double Standard of the Left for All to See

leave a comment »

Jake Tapper finally said it.  The ABC News reporter did what no other mainstream journalist has dared do; call the president on the carpet for the obvious double speak and double standard over on the left.

In a Whitehouse press conference Tapper got into a bit of a testy exchange with Mr. Roboto Whitehouse press secretary Jay Carney.  Tapper asked if the president’s plea for toning down the ugly rhetoric back when a congresswoman was shot in the head, was honest and sincere.  Carney said, “of course.”  Tapper then pointed to the recent angry and violent rhetoric coming out of labor boss Jimmy Hoffa while introducing the president at a speech in Detroit.

At this point the Carney dance begins and a clearly agitated and uncomfortable exchange  (on Carney’s part) ensues.

Watch and enjoy the squirmy worm.

The Democratic leadership and the progressive left arrogantly portrays the “do as I say not as I do” mentality.  This is just one painfully obvious example.

How $4.2 Billion In Refundable Tax Credits Went To Illegal Aliens

with one comment

U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, announced today that he will be examining how the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) gave $4.2 billion in refundable tax credits last year to illegal aliens – four times the amount from five years ago.

The information was released today in a report issued by the Treasury Department’s Inspector General for Tax Administration. The Finance Committee has jurisdiction over all tax policy, the IRS and the Department of Treasury.

“The disconcerting findings in this report demand immediate attention and action from Congress and the Obama Administration,” said Hatch. “With our debt standing at over $14.5 trillion and counting, it’s outrageous that the IRS is handing out refundable tax credits, which are spending through the tax code, to those who aren’t even eligible to work in this country. I will be looking at this as soon as Congress returns next week.”

The report found that:

“Although the law prohibits aliens residing without authorization in the United States from receiving most Federal public benefits, an increasing number of these individuals are filing tax returns claiming the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), a refundable tax credit intended for working families.”

$4.2 billion in refundable credits were paid to individuals not authorized to work in the United States in Processing Year 2010.

“[T]he payment of Federal funds through this tax benefit appears to provide an additional incentive for aliens to enter, reside, and work in the United States without authorization, which contradicts Federal law and policy to remove such incentives.”

The question is who is responsible for oversight, will they be held accountable, will they lose their jobs?  Bureaucracies are ripe with waste and fraud, we all get that and to a point we realized it can’t be totally curtailed, but this administration has allowed it to get out of control.  It’s almost as if they just look the other way.

They wouldn’t do that would they?  Not on purpose….

NLRB Does Not believe in Freedom in the Workplace

According to the National Right to Work Foundation the National Labor Relations Board just destroyed thousands of ballots.

From Mark Mix at NRTW:

The NLRB is bulldozing its way through workers’ rights and the Board’s own precedents to hand Big Labor as many new special privileges as it can before the 2012 elections.

  • Plotting to eliminate thousands of Boeing jobs in Right to Work South Carolina.
  • Proposing a scheme to ambush workers with union certification elections.
  • Forcing its way into every workplace in the country with biased notices that serve as a roadmap to coerced unionization.

The Obama Labor Board is on a war path against worker freedom. And the hits just keep on coming.

Last week, three former union lawyers on the National Labor Relations Board voted to overturn the Board’s pivotal 2007 ruling in Dana Corp.  The Foundation-won Dana case was one of the most important victories for workers’ rights at the Board in recent years, securing for employees the right to challenge union card check organizing campaigns with a secret ballot vote. Workers often sign so-called “union authorization cards” due to union organizers’ intimidating tactics or even outright lies about what signing a card means.  In fact, many workers across the country — like the Dana Corp. workers from Albion, Indiana (see video below) — have used Dana elections to kick out unwanted unions, demonstrating the unreliability of card check instant organizing.  But now thousands of workers who cast secret ballots in similar elections won’t even have their votes counted. The NLRB is actually destroying the votes!

Big Labor’s Card Check Forced Unionism Bill stalled in Congress due to widespread opposition from the American public to eliminating the secret ballot — and incumbents who supported card check faced the wrath of the voters in the 2010 midterm elections.  So instead the union bosses turned to the NLRB — where Barack Obama conveniently installed former union lawyers. Most notably, Obama installed former SEIU and AFL-CIO union lawyer Craig Becker as a recess appointee to the Board.  Becker infamously called the secret ballot “profoundly undemocratic” and in his time on the Board has repeatedly demonstrated his blatant pro-forced unionism bias and disregard for ethics.  In fact, Becker refused to recuse himself from the decision to overturn Dana even though he co-authored a brief for the AFL-CIO in the original case!

Overturning Dana on its own would be bad enough, but what makes it even more troubling is how it goes hand-in-hand with the Board’s other recent power grabs.  Take the proposed ambush elections rules, for instance.  If the rules are implemented, union operatives will be able to ambush workers with quick-snap elections just days after union organizers turn in “union authorization cards” from a mere 30 percent of the workforce.  And to make it even easier for union operatives to steamroll their way into workplaces, the Board would also force companies to hand over to union organizers the name, address, phone number, email address, and shift schedule of each employee, exposing workers to “home visits” and other intimidation tactics.

But if union bosses get wind of the possibility that they could lose the election by secret ballot, the new rules would allow them to withdraw their petition but save the personal contact information of each worker for a full-scale card check campaign at a later date.  By overturning Dana, the Obama Labor Board just eliminated the one protection remaining for workers against abusive card check campaigns.  In fact, the NLRB is making card check an even more powerful weapon against workers and job providers alike.

This is about freedom.  Workers deserve the right to be informed and choose for themselves whether unionizing is best for them and should never have to worry about intimidation or bully tactics that seem all to common in the union world.

The Tea Party is to Blame!

That’s the new mantra of the left.  Blame a fledgling political entity that is barely 3 years old for all the ills of this country.

Political activist and conservative Kevin Jackson hits the nail on the head, strikes the bullseye, rings the bell, and any other cliched analogy you can think of!

Of course the Andre Carsons, Maxine Waters, and Jesse Jacksons of the world will simply call Kevin Jackson an Uncle Tom which immediately devalues and discredits any black human being that disagrees with their views.  The problem for these elites is the black community isn’t as dumb and stupid as they think they are.  They are beginning to see through the facade these black leaders have built over the past 50 years.  They are beginning to ask questions and the answers they get from the liberal left are not resonating any longer.

Welcome to the truth and thank you to people like Kevin Jackson who are not afraid to speak it!
